SHEBOYGAN – Sheboygan just grew.

The city’s Common Council on Monday night agreed to annex about 104 acres from the Town of Wilson to make way for a long-planned effort to expand a south-side industrial park.

The council approved, on 15-to-0 votes, separate ordinances incorporating tracts estimated at 93.9 and 9.9 acres. All the land falls between Interstate-43 and South Business Drive in an area just south of Sheboygan’s border.

The moves are major parts of an initiative to add land for future manufacturing development in the city. Leaders this year have taken steps to expand the Sheboygan Business Center, an industrial park on the city’s far south side where new development acreage has grown scarce.
