Sheboygan Looks at Joining in on New Marine Sanctuary

The Sheboygan Common Council is working with surrounding cities to have a 60-mile stretch of Lake Michigan — home to 33 known, and likely many more undiscovered, shipwrecks — designated as a national marine sanctuary.

The proposed sanctuary, which would be established by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), would encompass a 875-square-mile area from Port Washington to Two Rivers.
