Tom's Drive In now open in Sheboygan area
An Appleton-based drive-thru chain has expanded into the Sheboygan area following the recent opening of Tom's Drive In on Superior Avenue.
The location, which opened Sept. 10 in the Town of Sheboygan and is connected to Holidays Pub and Grill, is the eighth Tom's Drive In in Wisconsin and the first outside of the Fox Valley in what employees say is a trial run to gauge the chain's growth potential.
"This a stepping stone to see if Tom's will excel," said Donald Budrick, the chain's director of operations.
The restaurant is owned by Appleton businessman Scott Grishaber, who also owns Holidays, and it's named after Grishaber's father, Tom, who opened a drive-up restaurant with the same name in 1960 in Appleton. The elder Grishaber still remains involved in the family business.
