Tourism key industry in state, region
Travel spending in Wisconsin was up 5.5 percent in 2014, and state tourism officials say they continue to look for ways to attract more visitors to the state.
GREENBUSH – A new 38,000-square foot visitor center and carriage museum at the Wade House Historic Site caught Susan McFadden's attention while she was driving on State 23.
That's exactly what the $12 million building — with a decidedly 19th Century exterior — is designed to do. McFadden returned to Wade house earlier this month with Andrea Tatlock, both as paying visitors. McFadden has lived in Appleton since the early 1980s.
"I'd never been here, but I noticed that beautiful building," McFadden said. "I had heard about Wade House, but had no idea what it was. I saw that building and I thought, 'We should come and explore.'"
