During a recent retreat held for area young professionals, the SCEDC became keenly aware of their desire for market-rate apartments in Downtown Sheboygan. The young professionals were so passionate about the prospect of market-rate downtown housing that they formed their own committee and distributed a survey to prove there was a market. Below are the results of that survey completed by over 200 individuals county-wide.
The ideal customer:
Age: Between 20 and 29
Education: Obtained a Bachelor’s degree
Marital Status: Single, never married
Children: No children, but plans to have them
Household Income: $40,000 - $59,999
The ideal downtown market-rate apartment is:
Rent: $600 - $999
Desired Features: Washer/Dryer; Patio/Deck; Master Suite; Storage Area
Flooring: Hard flooring for common areas; Carpeting for bedrooms
Building Amenities: Garage Parking
Ideal Location: Near water
