In 2016 and 2017 downtown Sheboygan will experience over $31 million on multi-family housing projects to build 250+ luxury apartment units and ~260 dormitory beds. Below is an overview of the major projects:
Encore Apartments (Boston Store Site)
Construction to begin summer of 2016 with occupancy in spring 2017. 80 unit mixed-use development with 1 and 2 bedroom units with underground parking. ~4,000 sq. ft. of retail space will be available on 8th street. Apartments will be built in unison with a new green-space concert venue hosting the popular "Levitt AMP Music Series." Oakbrook Corporation out of Madison, WI is the developer of this $10.3 million project that will serve as the center-piece for the City's Arts & Culture District.
8th and Virgina Ave. Apartment Complex
Construction will begin late summer 2016 on 91 apartments complete with underground parking. Many of these units will overlook the Sheboygan harbor as the units are strategically located in walking distance to both downtown and riverfront districts. Rooftop decks and penthouse suites are expected in this $15.1 million development by Scott Revolinski of RFP Commercial.
In late summer 2016 the first of two phases to build 88 rental town-homes in the inner lots of South Pier will begin by Joe Grasch and David Griffith. This $11.8 million project will provided needed 1 and 2 bedroom units with private entrances, attached garages and patios. Residents of these units will feel like they live on a resort.
The Founders Club Dormitories
The summer of 2016 will see the successful conversion of the former Sheboygan Senior Center located at 930 N. 6th street into 130+ room dorms to house over 260 individuals. Companies can reserve rooms to help them fill temporary worker needs such as summer internships and J-1 & J-2 visas. This project is by Jos. Schmitt Construction. Lakefront Apartment Development
In June 2016 Ener-Con Cos. told BizTimes Milwaukee Business News that they were pursing a 91 apartment unit complex along 450' of lake frontage at 1403 S. Business Dr. The development would be similar to a proposal in Muskego (pictured above). Click here to read the full story.
