MilliporeSigma Named Sheboygan County ‘Economic Driver of the Year’

Sheboygan, Wis. - At its 10th Annual Meeting on November 13, the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) presented its annual “Sheboygan County Economic Driver of the Year” Award to MilliporeSigma.

Upon accepting the award, Jeff Thurston, Sheboygan site director at MilliporeSigma, dedicated the award to the more than 400 MilliporeSigma employees in the town of Wilson.

“It is the passion that our employees have for solving our customers’ problems through collaboration that drives MilliporeSigma’s success,” Thurston said. “I want to commend the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation for the help they have given us in retaining our employees from the Emmber site and their work to ensure that Sheboygan is an attractive community for the talent needed to support our growth.”  

The ”Sheboygan County Economic Driver of the Year” Award is a small token of appreciation for the decades MilliporeSigma has been humbly but steadily growing their facilities and workforce in Sheboygan County.    

MilliporeSigma completed is most recent investment in Sheboygan County with a $47 million, 80,000-square-foot manufacturing facility which opened in May. The new facility supports its Stains & Dyes and Flavor & Fragrances portfolios, with 55 new jobs. With MilliporeSima planning to invest another $100 million in Sheboygan County over the next five years, the business and its employees have earned this prestigious annual award.    

According to Gary Dulmes, SCEDC Board Chair, “MilliporeSigma is a phenomenal company. The fact that this worldwide, world-class class business is choosing to invest in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin due, in part to our committed, talented workforce and quality of life, is both humbling and noteworthy. We wish MilliporeSigma success and congratulate them with our highest honor.”

The Life Science business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, which operates as MilliporeSigma in the U.S. and Canada, has some 21,000 employees and 59 manufacturing sites worldwide, with a portfolio of more than 300,000 products focused on scientific discovery, biomanufacturing and testing services.

MilliporeSigma is among other visionary companies that have earned the SCEDC Economic Driver Award, which include the leaders of Acuity, American Orthodontics, Bemis Manufacturing, Johnsonville Sausage, Kohler Co., Oostburg Concrete, Masters Gallery Foods, Sargento Foods, and Vollrath Co.
