Sheboygan County, WI – A key mission of the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) is to provide opportunities to Sheboygan County entrepreneurs and help them make informed business decisions.   The SCEDC has partnered with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UW-Green Bay to bring the Entrepreneurship Training Program (ETP) virtually, via Zoom, to the entrepreneurs of Sheboygan County.

Whether your business is just starting up, in the growth phase, or transitioning ownership, writing a business plan is critical to building a profitable venture, and is especially important when attracting financing from lenders or investors.

Steve Holmes of Holmes Inspection says the SBDC ETP was an invaluable asset in establishing his business.

“The class guided our group of 20 future and current small business owners through the process of researching our businesses and developing a formal written business plan.  One aspect of the course that had a definite impact was firsthand feedback.  The weekly class content included guest speakers ranging from a banker, to a social media marketing expert to an attorney; one of the best speakers was a prior ETP participant who went on to start his own business.  The viewpoint of someone who had been in our shoes and was actually making it happen was really informative.”

The ETP class is offered on Thursdays from 5:30-8:30 PM starting September 24th through November 19th, with orientation scheduled for September 17th.  The class will be taught virtually but offers one-on-one consulting from a local SBDC business consultant.  The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is offering qualified applicants an Entrepreneurial Training Grant that covers most of the $1,000 course fee. The grant covers 75% of the tuition, reducing the cost to $250. The upfront cost will be $200 with a successful application, plus a book purchase of $50.

Sheboygan County entrepreneurs should consider taking the upcoming virtual ETP opportunity starting September 24th. To register, follow link to the SBDC or call/email (920)366-9063 or sbdc@uwgb.edu.
