Z & N Machine Company of Sheboygan Donates Money to an Agency Each Year
SHEBOYGAN, WI — The Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) and Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UW-Green Bay aim to provide a wide variety of services, resources, and expertise to help encourage entrepreneurial opportunities in Sheboygan County, including new and existing businesses that offer unique services and experiences to the community like Z & N Machine Co.
Z & N Machine is a company located at 3411 S. 32nd Street in Sheboygan. They specialize in manufacturing and assembling machine components, building prototypes, and custom machinery. Their services include fabrication, welding, painting, general assembly, hydraulic and electrical work, and more. President Earl Ney is passionate about providing quality parts at an affordable price and delivering them to customers on time. The community should be excited about Z & N Machine because they supply parts to many local companies, which helps to maintain jobs in the area.
Beyond supplying parts, Z & N Machine is committed to giving back to its community. In 2013, the company initiated a contribution fund, which is funded by its employees with a percentage of their paychecks. The company matches dollar for dollar contributed by the employees. Although Z & N Machine only has 5 to 7 employees, the company has donated a total of $76,000 to various charitable causes to date.
Earl got the idea from the TV show "Secret Millionaire." The show featured a millionaire who had to team up with local non-profit agencies and decide where to contribute the money. Earl and his group of employees have adopted this concept, and every year, they discuss local charities in the area and decide collectively where their contribution should go. Over the years, they have selected non-profits such as the Salvation Army Sheboygan, Meals on Wheels, Boys & Girls Club, Sheboygan County Food Bank, and many others.
Earl is urging other companies to create their own contribution fund and get their employees involved in giving back to local charities. “It is hard to believe that a small group of people can make a big difference in some lives,” said Earl.
This year’s donation of $8,000 was given to the Sheboygan County Historical Society.
